HELLO!
TO OUR EAST WILLISTON COMMUNITY
Dear Friends, Families, and Neighbors,
We are honored and excited to announce our candidacy for the East Williston School District Board of Education. Together, as parents, professionals, and committed community members, we are running for the two open seats in this year’s election.
We are running because we deeply love this school district. We are raising children here — and like so many of you, we are filled with gratitude every day for the extraordinary learning community we’re lucky to be part of.
Our schools are truly special. Nationally ranked, home to some of the best educators and most inspiring learners anywhere, East Williston is a district with a reputation for excellence — and a culture that fosters it. That kind of climate doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through trust, care, collaboration, and an unwavering focus on what’s best for students.
We want to protect and strengthen that culture. We believe our educators should be empowered to do their best work, and that our students should be supported to reach their fullest personal potential. We’re not running on fear or outrage. We’re running on optimism — because we know what we have is worth protecting, and we know what’s possible when a community comes together.
We also believe in looking forward. In building even stronger partnerships between families, educators, and learners. In using technology wisely to enhance—not replace—great teaching. In improving support for students through the college process and postsecondary planning. In making sure every student feels seen, heard, and supported in every classroom.
We bring diverse experiences — in medicine and technology — but what unites us is our deep belief in this district and its people. We trust our educators and believe they deserve the resources and respect to do their best work. We believe in using district funds wisely and strategically — not through fear-based cuts, but through smart investments that directly support student success. We're committed to listening, collaborating, and leading with balance and integrity, focused on strengthening what works and building on the excellence we’ve all helped create.
We look forward to meeting with many of you over the coming weeks — to hear your stories, your hopes, and your ideas. This is a community full of heart and brilliance. Together, let’s continue to make it a place where every child can thrive.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Nadia Afridi, MD MBA & Bo Hsu, MBA
